Important information for travellers

KNOW BEFORE YOU GO /CHECK LIST FOR CANADIANS TRAVELING TO CUBA:

Documents needed to travel: valid passport, tourist card (it’s included and provided on board), Medical insurance.

Starting on January 1, 2022, travelers must provide information in advance prior entering Cuba. Passengers can log in at: https://www.dviajeros.mitrans.gob.cu/ to access this new form (in the past, clients were given these forms on board). All travelers must provide information online within 72 hours before departing for Cuba. Once you provide it, you will receive a QR code by email. You must show an electronic or printed version of the QR code to authorities upon arrival.

CURRENCY: The local currency is Cuban peso (CUP). Convertible peso has been discontinued and not been accepted anymore. US dollars are accepted again in Cuba, while Canadian currency is widely accepted. At the hotels and resort areas payments are accepted only with Debit/visa or Visa credit cards from Canadian banks. Clients who don’t have a credit card can buy a pre-paid card in Cuba at the airport, exchange houses and resort areas. Payments outside the tourist areas are in local Cuban pesos (CUP); we recommend exchanging Canadian dollars into pesos as you need them and only if you are planning to travel around outside of the tourist zones; since you won’t be able to exchange the left-over pesos back into Canadian at the end of the holidays. The best currency for tips is US and Canadian dollar or local Cuban peso.
